Vaara (“we”, “us”) operates the Vaara Parents mobile application and vaara.ai. This policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect information when you use Vaara Parents.

Who this app is for

Vaara Parents is intended for adults who are parents or caregivers. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Information we collect

Depending on how you use the app, we may collect:

• Account information — email address, password (stored hashed), optional display name, anonymous handle, avatar selection, and account identifiers.
• Child and school context — child nickname (not required to be a real name), gender, school name, curriculum, grade, and optional date of birth to match you with relevant parent circles.
• Location context — postal code, locality, city, state, and apartment or community name. We do not collect precise real-time GPS location for sharing with other users.
• Content you provide — circle posts, comments, polls, marketplace listings, photos and videos, direct messages, and optional contact details you choose to disclose (for example first name, flat/block, phone).
• Device and technical data — push notification tokens, app version, and standard server logs (IP address, timestamps) for security and reliability.
• Google sign-in — if you use Google Sign-In, we receive your Google account email and a Google account identifier to authenticate you.

How we use information

• Provide and operate the app (circles, messaging, marketplace, activities)
• Create and manage your account
• Match you with relevant school, class, and locality communities
• Send notifications you opt into (messages, circle activity, reminders)
• Protect users (reports, blocks, abuse investigation)
• Improve reliability and security of our services

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use third-party advertising SDKs.

How we share information

• With other users — according to app design: anonymous handles in circles, optional graduated disclosure in private chats, and named public profiles for verified providers.
• Service providers who help us run the app:
  • Google — Sign-In and push notifications (Firebase Cloud Messaging)
  • Cloud hosting and media storage (for example AWS S3 and CDN)
  • Infrastructure providers that host our API and database
• Legal and safety — when required by law or to protect users, our rights, or others.

Your choices

• Update profile, children, and location in the app settings and onboarding flows.
• Control notification preferences in the app.
• Block or report parents and conversations in the app.
• Request deletion of your account and associated data — see our account deletion page.
• Request removal of specific content without deleting your account by emailing support@vaara.ai.

Data retention

We keep information while your account is active and as needed to provide the service. When you request account deletion, we delete or de-identify personal data as described on our delete account page, including a limited backup retention period (up to 30 days) and retention of certain safety records where required by law or abuse prevention.

Security

We use encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) for data sent between the app and our servers. Access to production systems is restricted. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we work to protect your information using reasonable industry practices.

International users

Vaara Parents is operated from India. If you use the app from other countries, your information may be processed in India and other locations where our service providers operate.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and update the effective date. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
